General description

1,2-dipalmitoyl-d62-sn-glycero-3-[phospho-rac-(1-glycerol)] (16:0 PG-d62) is a deuterated phosphoglycerol (PG) wherein 62 protons in dipalmitoyl are replaced by deuterium.
Deuterated fatty acids experience exchange of the deuteriums on the alpha carbon to the carbonyl, i.e., C2 position, and will therefore be a mixture of compounds that are fully deuterated and partially deuterated at that position.

Application

1,2-dipalmitoyl-d62-sn-glycero-3-[phospho-rac-(1-glycerol)] (16:0 PG-d62) has been used:
  • in lipid bilayer to study its interaction with alamethicin
  • in the preparation of deuterated liposomes to study its interaction with 15N-labeled MapZcyto in solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
  • as a component of lipid bilayer to study its molecular-level interactions with antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) using sum frequency generation (SFG) vibrational spectroscopy
