General description

Styrene is a volatile compound, used in the manufacture of numerous types of plastic, glass fiber-reinforced resins, protective coatings, synthetic rubber and ion exchange resins.

Styrene may be used as an analytical reference for the quantification of the analyte in water samples using gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.
Styrene may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in air samples using thermal desorption-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique and comestible oil samples using headspace-mass spectrometry/gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.
