Biochem/physiol Actions

Benvitimod (Tapinarof) is an aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) immunomodulator that inhibits skin inflammation and enhances skin barrier function. Benvitimod is a metabolite, similar to resveratrol, produced by bacterial symbionts of entomopathogenic nematodes. It induces downregulation of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-19, IL-22, IL-23, and IL-1. Benvitimod also induces the expression of skin barrier genes related to keratinocyte differentiation.
