General description

Mitochondrial fission 1 protein, hFIs1, is an overexpressed mammlian protein that is localized to the outer mitochondrial membrane of various cell types. It is involved in the fragmentation of the mitochondrial network and its perinuclear clustering, resulting in the release of cytochrome c from the mitochondrion, and apopotosis. It is known to mediate peroxisomal fission and also plays a critical role in histone function by demethylating Lys-4 of histone H3.

Specificity

Other homologies: Rat and Mouse (83% sequence homology).
This antibody recognizes the cytoplasmic topological domain of Mitochondrial fission 1 protein.

Immunogen

Epitope: Cytoplasmic topological domain
KLH-conjugated-linear peptide corresponding to the cytoplasmic topological domain of human Mitochondrial fission 1 protein.

Application

Detect Mitochondrial fission 1 protein (Fis1) using this Anti-Mitochondrial fission 1 protein (Fis1) Antibody validated for use in WB.

The mechanisms underlying improved insulin sensitivity after surgically-induced weight loss are still unclear. We monitored skeletal muscle metabolism in obese individuals before and over 52 weeks after metabolic surgery. Initial weight loss occurs in parallel with a decrease in muscle
