General description

Deuterated fatty acids experience exchange of the deuteriums on the alpha carbon to the carbonyl, i.e., C2 position, and will therefore be a mixture of compounds that are fully deuterated and partially deuterated at that position.

Application

16:0-d31-18:1 PE has been used as an internal lipid standard for the lipid extraction of mice tracheal epithelial cells and human bronchial samples.

Among the structurally diverse collection of lipids that comprise the membrane lipidome, polyunsaturated phospholipids are particularly vulnerable to oxidation. The role of α-tocopherol (vitamin E) is to protect this influential class of membrane phospholipid from oxidative damage. Whether lipid-lipid interactions

X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) is an inherited disorder caused by deleterious mutations in the ABCD1 gene. The ABCD1 protein transports very long-chain FAs (VLCFAs) from the cytosol into the peroxisome where the VLCFAs are degraded through β-oxidation. ABCD1 dysfunction leads to

Alkanes are known to promote the fluid lamellar (Lα)-to-inverted hexagonal (HII) phase transition of different phospholipids. In this work, we studied the interaction of decane and tetradecane with self-assemblies formed of 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-phosphoethanolamine (POPE), using sequential 2H and 31P solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
