Application

Uridine 5′-triphosphate trisodium salt solution has been used to increase the intracellular Ca2+ levels in rat primary tracheal epithelial cells. It has also been used as a nucleotide substrate to analyze the activity of MutT homologue 1 (MTH1).

Biochem/physiol Actions

UTP plays a crucial role in the process of transcription by participating in the synthesis of RNA. It is associated with glycogen synthesis, protein glycosylation, and membrane phospholipid biosynthesis. UTP is involved in the production of ATP, which is essential for metabolic reactions.
Uridine 5′-triphosphate (UTP) is released during nerve injury and acts as an agonist of the purinergic P2Y2 receptors present on the surface of Schwann cells.
