Gene Information
rat ... Bdnf(24225)
General description
The brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) gene is mapped to human chromosome 11p14.1. The gene encodes a precursor protein, proBDNF. Mature BDNF (mBDNF) is synthesized by post-translational cleavage of proBDNF.
This ELISA antibody pair detects rat and human BDNF. Other species are not determined.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is involved in hippocampal function and verbal episodic memory in humans. BDNF also plays a vital role in vascular function and participates in angiogenesis via the specific receptor tropomyosin-related kinase B (TrkB). It is involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer′s disease.

(1) Background: Depression is one of the overwhelming public health problems. Alleviating hippocampus injury may prevent depression development. Herein, we established the chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) model and aimed to investigate whether aerobic exercise (AE) could alleviate CUMS induced

Aging increases the risk of cancer partly through alterations in the tissue microenvironment. Time-restricted feeding (TRF) is being proposed as an effective strategy to delay biological aging. In the present studies, we assessed the effect of long-term exposure to TRF
