General description

Serum levels of L-ascorbic acid, commonly known as vitamin C, are an adequate measurement of clinical status. Low levels of vitamin C occur in scurvy, malabsorption, alcoholism, pregnancy, hyperthyroidism, and renal failure.

Application

L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)-13C6 solution, (13C6-ascorbic acid) may be used as a certified reference material (CRM) for the determination of ascorbate in aqueous solutions and plasma by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
This stable-labeled internal standard is suitable for quantification of vitamin C levels in serum or other matrices by LC/MS or GC/MS for clinical diagnostic, or forensic analysis applications.
