General description

Codeine-6ß-D-glucuronide is a major urinary metabolite of codeine, an opiate commonly used as an antitussive and analgesic for management of mild pain. This certified reference solution is suitable as starting material for preparation of calibrators and controls in codeine testing by LC/MS or GC/MS for forensic analysis, urine drug testing, or clinical toxicology applications.

Application

  • Opioid metabolite reference material: Codeine-6-β-D-glucuronide is utilized in LC-ESI-MS/MS analyses for the quantification of various opioids and their metabolites in human urine, providing critical insights into opioid metabolism and its forensic and clinical implications (Murphy and Huestis, 2005).

  • Analytical standard for drug metabolism studies: The compound serves as a key reference material in studies determining the presence of opiates and their metabolites in urine following consumption of medicinal syrups, highlighting its importance in drug monitoring and abuse prevention (Yen et al., 2020).
