General description

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[biotinyl(polyethylene glycol)-2000] (DSPE-PEG(2000) based micelles display a spheroids shape and are effective agents for drug delivery. Their size ranges between 18 nm to 90 nm. It is used with functional groups like biotin added as conjugate.

Application

DSPE-PEG(2000) Biotin has been used in the generation of biotinylated lipid-coated microbubbles for adhering to human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and chicken embryo for ultrasound studies. It has also been used for the generation of giant unilamellar lipid vesicles (GUVs) for live cell fusion studies.

Biochem/physiol Actions

1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[biotinyl(polyethylene glycol)-2000] (DSPE-PEG(2000)) Biotin is used in capsule surface modification.
