General description

C20 Ceramide (d17:1/20:0) is a synthetic ceramide containing C17 analog of sphingosine with arachidonic acid. Ceramide synthase 2 catalyzes the synthesis of C20 Ceramide. Ceramide is the key component of sphingolipids.

Application

C20 Ceramide (d17:1/20:0) has been used as an internal standard to measure the sphingolipid content in liver by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC/MS/MS).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Ceramides play an important role in cell signaling, cell differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis.
