General description
Isazophos is a broad-spectrum insecticide and nematicide belonging to the chemical class of organophosphates. Isazophos is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, that is used on a wide variety of crops such as bananas, citrus fruits, cotton, beet crops, maize, rice, and sugarcane to control turf and soil insect pests like grubs, com rootworms, root maggots, and wireworms.
According to Regulation (EC) 1107/2009, isazophos is not approved for use in European Union (EU). A default maximum residue level (MRLs) of 0.01 mg/kg has been set according to Art 18(1)(b) Reg 396 / 2005.
Application
- To develop a GC/MS procedure utilizing selected ion monitoring (SIM) for quantification of isazophos in bovine liver, kidney, muscle, and fat at various times after exposure
- To develop multiresidue method for quantification of 19 metabolites of organophosphorus pesticides, synthetic pyrethroids, selected herbicides, and DEET (N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide) in human urine using LC-MS
- To determine the efficacy of isazophos against Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica Newman) grubs using two subsurface placement technology, high-pressure liquid injection (HPLI) and an adapted overseeder (OS), applied to golf course roughs
