Gene Information

human ... CTF-1(1489)

Biochem/physiol Actions

The CCAAT-box binding protein 1 (CTF1, also called NF-I or NF-1) is a proline-rich transcription activator. It selectively activates transcription of genes that contain GCCAAT consensus sequence in promoter region, including human Ha-Ras, alpha-globin, hsp70 and many other cellular and viral genes. Cloning and functional characterization of the protein revealed that CTF1 contains an N-terminal DNA binding domain and a C-terminal proline-rich activation domain. CTF1 was shown to interact with the general transcription factor IIB (TFIIB) and facilitate the recruitment of TFIIB to TBP-DNA complexes, with the forkhead thyroid transcription factor TTF2 to regulate hormone–dependent transcription of thyroperoxidase gene, as well as other receptor proteins to synergize hormone receptor-responsive activation.

Human CTF/NF-I consists of a family of CCAAT box binding proteins that activate both transcription and DNA replication. Analysis of cDNA mutants expressed in E. coli and Drosophila cells reveals that the N-terminal portion of CTF-1 is sufficient for site-specific

Transcription factor CTF, which is responsible for selective recognition of eukaryotic promoters that contain the sequence CCAAT, was purified to apparent homogeneity by sequence-specific DNA affinity chromatography. Binding sites for CTF in the human Ha-ras and alpha-globin promoters were highly

The CTF/NF-I group of cellular DNA binding proteins recognizes the sequence GCCAAT and is implicated in eukaryotic transcription as well as DNA replication. Molecular analysis of human CTF/NF-I complementary DNA clones reveals multiple messenger RNA species containing alternative coding regions

We report a new method to generate high-expressing mammalian cell lines in a quick and efficient way. For that purpose, we developed a master cell line (MCL) containing an inducible alphavirus vector expressing GFP integrated into the genome. In the
