Application

Calcium phosphate dibasic has been used:
  • to prepare high temperature stoichiometric sintered hydroxyapatite (sin-HA)
  • as a component of calcium phosphate cement (CPC) to prepare bioartificial pancreas (BAP)
  • to produce calcium pyrophosphate (Ca2P2O7) for the preparation of α-tricalcium phosphates (α-TCP)

Biochem/physiol Actions

Calcium phosphate dibasic is an anhydrate used to dilute tablets and capsules. It is widely used as an excipient for its compressibility, amenability, and brittle fracture propensity.

Dibasic calcium phosphate occurs as an anhydrate (DCPA; CaHPO₄) and as a dihydrate (DCPD; CaHPO₄•2H₂O). Our objective was to investigate the unusual behavior of these phases. Dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate was dehydrated in a (i) differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) in

Fibrous tissue outgrowth and hypoxia are the major restrictions for the application of bioartificial pancreas (BAP). Accordingly, the intramedullary cavity is proposed as an implant site, and a BAP constructed of calcium phosphate cement chamber was implanted. Mouse insulinoma cells
