Specificity

GABAA receptor alpha1 subunit, cytoplasmic loop. The apparent molecular mass of 51 kDa in rat brain membrane fractions. The antibody shows no reactivity in the forebrain of alpha1 knockout mice by Western blot.

Immunogen

Epitope: cytoplasmic loop
Fusion protein from the cytoplasmic loop of rat GABAA receptor alpha1 subunit.

Application

Anti-GABA A Receptor α1 Antibody, cytoplasmic loop is an antibody against GABA A Receptor α1 for use in IP & WB.

Neuroscience
Research Sub Category
Neurotransmitters & Receptors
Western blot: 1:1,000

Immunopreciptation: The antibody will immunoprecipitate 59% of all GABA A receptors in dodecysulfate extracts of rat forebrains (150 μL) using 15 μg of antibody.

Optimal working dilutions must be determined by the end user.

Physical form

Affinity purified immunoglobulin. Liquid in 10 mM Hepes, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 100 μg/mL BSA and 50% glycerol. Approximate concentration is 0.15 mg/mL.

Storage and Stability

Maintain at -20°C in undiluted for up to 6 months after date of receipt. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. Do not store in a self-defrosting freezer.

Seizures are a common manifestation of hypoxic-ischaemic brain injury in the neonate. In status epilepticus models alterations to GABAA R subunit expression have been suggested to contribute to (i) abnormal development of the GABAergic system, (ii) why seizures become self-sustaining
