General description

Monoclonal Anti-β-Galactosidase (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the hybridoma produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from an immunized mouse. β −galactosidase is a E coli protein and is a tetramer with 1023 amino acids.

Specificity

The antibody may be used for amplification in immunoenzymatic staining by preparing a β-galactosidase anti-β-galactosidase (BGABG) soluble complex. It is not recommended for immunoblotting; it does not recognize denatured or reduced β-galactosidase.

Immunogen

β-galactosidase from E. coli

Application

Monoclonal Anti-β-Galactosidase antibody produced in mouse has been used in:

  • immunostaining and histochemistry
  • immunostaining and microscopy
  • immunohistochemistry
  • immunofluorescence staining
  • enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)
  • immuno dot blot

Biochem/physiol Actions

β −galactosidase substrate is lactose. Synthetic substrates like o-nitrophenyl-β-d-galactopyranoside (oNPG) or p-nitrophenyl-β-d-galactopyranoside (pNPG) are used in enzymatic assays. It is also used as marker in studying gene expression. The use of monoclonal β -galactosidase anti- β -galactosidase (BGABG) soluble complex in the unlabeled antibody-enzyme method results in an intense signal with a very low background.
