Gene Information

human ... POU3F2(5454)

General description

POU3F2 is a neural transcription factor that modulates the differentiation of neurons and facilitates corticotropin-releasing hormone regulated gene stimulation. POU3F2 has been implicated in melanoma.
Rabbit Anti-POU3F2 (AB2) antibody recognizes bovine, canine, human, mouse, and rat POU3F2.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of human POU3F2

Application

Rabbit Anti-POU3F2 (AB2) antibody can be used for western blot applications at 0.5μg/ml.

Biochem/physiol Actions

N-Oct-3 (POU3F2) is a protein belonging to a large family of transcription factors that bind to the octameric DNA sequence ATGCAAAT. Most of these proteins share a highly homologous region, referred to as the POU domain, which occurs in several mammalian transcription factors, including the octamer-binding proteins Oct1 (POU2F1) and Oct2 (POU2F2), and the pituitary protein Pit1 (PIT1). Class III POU genes are expressed predominantly in the CNS. It is likely that CNS-specific transcription factors such as these play an important role in mammalian neurogenesis by regulating their diverse patterns of gene expression.N-Oct-3 is a protein belonging to a large family of transcription factors that bind to the octameric DNA sequence ATGCAAAT. POU3F2 is a POU-Homeodomain transcription factor expressed in neurons and melanoma cells. In melanoma lesions, cells expressing high levels of POU3F2 show enhanced invasive and metastatic capacity that can in part be explained by repression of Micropthalmia-associated Transcription Factor (MITF)

Spontaneous melanoma phenotype switching is controlled by unknown environmental factors and may determine melanoma outcome and responsiveness to anticancer therapy. We show that Orai1 and STIM2 are highly expressed and control store-operated Ca(2+) entry in human melanoma. Lower extracellular Ca(2+)

Most excitatory synapses in the mammalian brain are formed on dendritic spines, and spine density has a profound impact on synaptic transmission, integration, and plasticity. Membrane-associated guanylate kinase (MAGUK) proteins are intracellular scaffolding proteins with well established roles in synapse
