General description

Antibody reacts with Myoglobin (MB). Myoglobin is an oxygen transportation protein found in muscle tissue. Elevated levels of Myoglobin in the blood can be an indication of heart muscle damage , this has led to the use of Myoglobin in the diagnosis of cardiac events. As Myoglobin is found in all muscle tissue it has a lower specificity for cardiac events that proteins such as Troponins or CKMB, however the elevation of Myoglobin the blood is typically more rapid.
