General description

Phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate 5-kinase 1 gamma (PIP5K type 1 gamma; PIP5K1γ) is a ubiquitous protein which is enriched in focal adhesion plaques. It is expressed in relatively high levels in the brain, particularly at synaptic sites. PIP5K type 1 gamma is activated by talin, and in turn phosphorylates phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate to form phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate, the precursor to the second messenger phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate. It indirectly influences vesicle transport, cell adhesion, and cell migration, among other processes. Defects in PIP5K type 1 gamma may contribute to lethal congenital arthrogryposis.

Immunogen

recombinant protein corresponding to mouse PIP5K-type 1 gamma.

Application

Anti-PIP5K-Type 1 gamma Antibody detects level of PIP5K-Type 1 gamma & has been published & validated for use in Western Blotting & IHC.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A representative lot from an independent laboratory detected PIP5K-Type 1 gamma in rat brain tissues (Wenk, M. R., et al. 2001. Neuron. 32(1):79-88.).

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blot in mouse brain tissue lysate.

Western Blot Analysis: 1 mg/mL of this antibody detected PIP5K-Type 1 gamma in 10 mg of mouse brain tissue lysate.

Target description

~90 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight of PIP5K Type-1 gamma is 69-72 kDa, but has been observed at ~90 kDa in Western Blot (Volpicelli-Daley, L.A., et al. (2010). 285(37):28708-28714.).

Disruption of the presynaptically enriched polyphosphoinositide phosphatase synaptojanin 1 leads to an increase of clathrin-coated intermediates and of polymerized actin at endocytic zones of nerve terminals. These changes correlate with elevated levels of PI(4,5)P(2) in neurons. We report that phosphatidylinositol
