General description
5α-Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a steroid hormone and metabolite of the natural androgen, testosterone, formed by the action of NADPH-dependent enzyme 5α-reductase. It has been implicated in a broad range of diseases from male pattern baldness to benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer. As an anabolic steroid, DHT has also been used as a performance-enhancing drug to promote muscle growth.

- Quantitative analysis of nine hydroxy-androgens and their conjugates by a stable isotope dilution liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry (SID-LC-ESI-MS/MS) based method following their derivatization using picolinic acid
