General description

Prostaglandins are hormones present in many tissues and organs.Prostaglandin B1 (PGB1) is a ketone molecule with a five carbon ring structure. It also contains two side chains linked to its unsaturated region.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Prostaglandin B1 (PGB1) is a metabolic product of PGE1 dehydration. It is known to specifically bind to peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ. By this, PGB1 mediates fat accumulation and metabolism. Oligomerization of PGB1 potentiates its anti-oxidative property.
