General description

Phosphoethanolamine (PHOS) is a precursor to phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine. 18:1 PE CF is a green fluorescent tagged phosphatidylethanolamine.

Application

18:1 PE CF may be used:
  • to spike human serum
  • to prepare concentrated lipid mix, PC:PE:fluoPE to assess basal binding properties and PC:PE:fluoPE:PIP to assess specific binding properties of the protein to each phosphoinositides (PIP)
  • to prepare the large unilamellar vesicles (LUVs)
  • in the preparation of fluorescent phosphoinositide?containing liposomes
  • for fluorescent labeling of total lipids to the initial liposome formulation mixture
  • in the formulation of pegylated magneto-liposomes (MLs) and transferrin (Tf) embedding

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylethanolamine controls the membrane fluidity in eukaryotic cells. Phosphoethanolamine (PHOS) has the ability to repress tumour growth both in vitro and in vivo. It possesses anticarcinogenic effects. It can also prevent the mRNA expression of cyclin D1 and VEGFR1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1).
