General description

Olig-1 is a bHLH transcription factor that is expressed by oligodendrocytes in the brain where it promotes oligodendrocyte formation and maturation. Olig1 cooperates with Olig2 to establish the pMN domain of the embryonic neural tube.

Specificity

Oligodendrocyte marker Olig1. The antibody typically stains cell in either the cytoplasm or nucleus depending on cell type. Staining will be present in the nucleus of remyelinating oligodendrocytes.

Immunogen

Fusion protein from mouse Olig1.

Application

Anti-Olig1 Antibody is an antibody against Olig1 for use in WB, IC, IH.

The differentiation and maturation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) is important for remyelination in the central nervous system. Nevertheless, this process is often limited and incomplete in ischemic injury. Oligodendrocyte transcription factor 1 (Olig1) is important for the maturation of OPCs and

The causal link between Zika virus (ZIKV) infection and microcephaly has raised alarm worldwide. Microglial hyperplasia, reactive gliosis, and myelination delay have been reported in ZIKV-infected microcephalic fetuses. However, whether and how ZIKV infection affects glial cell development remain unclear.
