General description

Silver sulfide (Ag2S) quantum dots (QD) are semiconducting inorganic nanoparticles, offered as a concentrated solution (10 mg/mL) in N,N-dimethylformamide. The most important property of a Ag2S QD is its excitonic absorption peak wavelength, which is controlled by the particle size. These infrared Ag2S quantum dots have an excitonic absorption peak wavelength of 800 nm and narrow peak width, indicating that they are a monodisperse ensemble of nanoparticles, all a very similar size. In addition, Ag2S quantum dots do not contain toxic elements (such as Cd and Pb), making them a greener alternative to Cd- and Pb-based QDs.

Application

Ag2S quantum dots have a range of potential applications in nanodiagnostics, solar cells, and photoelectrochemical biosensors. These nanocrystals can be used as NIR optical imaging probes in research activities aimed at studying nanodiagnostics and imaging in vivo. Additionally, studies have shown that Ag2S QDs can serve as a highly efficient and broadband sensitizer for solar cells, making them a promising material for research and development activities in the field of photovoltaics Ag2S QDs have also demonstrated potential as PEC biosensors, with studies showing that they have extensive potential in this application due to their simplicity, low toxicity, sensitivity, and wide range of potential uses
