General description

B-Iodo-9-BBN is a boron-based organic compound that is commonly used as a reagent in organic synthesis for the iodoboration of alkynes, enolboration, the demethylation of phenol methyl ethers, and synthesis of boron-containing compounds.

Application

B-Iodo-9-BBN solution (1.0 M in hexanes) can be used as a Lewis acid in the selective synthesis of δ-keto esters via a Michael-type addition reaction to α,β-unsaturated ketones.
