General description

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar contains peptones to provide nitrogen, vitamins, and amino acids. The relatively high concentration of glucose (dextrose), in addition to the low pH, promotes the growth and the formation of spores (Conidia and Sporangia) and pigments of yeasts and molds. The low pH further inhibits the growth of bacteria. Agar is the solidifying agent.

Application

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is suitable for the cultivation of yeasts and molds from different materials and for usage as a reference medium during performance testing of culture media.
