Application

Tubastatin A hydrochloride may be used in HDAC6-mediated cell signaling studies.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Tubastatin A Hydrochloride is a very selective HDAC6 inhibitor.
Tubastatin A increases the total numbers of mitochondria and restores the number of moving mitochondria in DRG neurons. It reverses the axonal loss in peripheral neurons in mouse model of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Tubastatin A inhibits the deacetylation of α-tubulin in murine myoblasts.
Tubastatin A is a very selective HDAC6 inhibitor with an IC50 of 4 nM and 100 to over 1000-fold selectivity for HDAC6 over other HDAC classes.

Dysferlin is a multi-C2 domain transmembrane protein involved in a plethora of cellular functions, most notably in skeletal muscle membrane repair, but also in myogenesis, cellular adhesion and intercellular calcium signaling. We previously showed that dysferlin interacts with alpha-tubulin and

Epigenetic mechanisms (i.e., histone post-translational modification and DNA methylation) play a role in regulation of gene expression. The pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), part of the reticular activating system, manifests intrinsic gamma oscillations generated by voltage-dependent, high threshold N- and P/Q-type Ca2+

Microtubules are polymerized dimers of α- and β-tubulin that underlie a broad range of cellular activities. Acetylation of α-tubulin by the acetyltransferase ATAT1 modulates microtubule dynamics and functions in neurons. However, it remains unclear how this enzyme acetylates microtubules over

Epigenetic modifications are thought to occur through two key interconnected processes—DNA methylation and the covalent modification of histones.
