General description

Monoclonal Anti-PIWIL1 (mouse IgG2b isotype) is derived from the hybridoma piwi-like protein 1 (PIWIL1-2) produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal region of human PIWIL1 conjugated to KLH. PIWIL1 is a member of Piwi subfamily. It is expressed mostly to the germline. The encoded protein consists of the PAZ domain and the PIWI domain. The PIWIL1 gene is located on human chromosome 12q24.33.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal region of human PIWIL1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence differs by one amino acid in mouse PIWIL1.

Application

Immunoprecipitation (1 paper)
Monoclonal Anti-PIWIL1 antibody produced in mouse has been used in:
  • immunofluorescence
  • immunoprecipitation
  • flow cytometry analysis29}
  • immunoblotting
  • immunohistochemistry

Biochem/physiol Actions

Piwi proteins are implicated in epigenetic control of gene expression, transposon silencing and translation regulation. It plays vital roles in the germline development and gametogenesis of many metazoan species.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
