Gene Information

human ... PRKCQ(5588)

General description

PRKCQ (protein kinase C θ) is majorly expressed in T-cells, and is a member of the PKC protein family. It belongs to the subfamily of proteins which are induced by diacylglycerol (DAG), rather than Ca2+. It is the only PKC member that is localized to the immunological synapse.

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 5453976, sequence 610-673
Recombinant protein kinase C, theta

Application

Anti-PRKCQ antibody produced in chicken is suitbale for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protein kinase C θ (PKC-θ) promotes epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) by acting as a critical chromatin-anchored switch for inducible genes. Chromatinized PKC-θ exists as an active transcription complex and is essential to establish a permissive chromatin state at signature EMT genes. It plays a central role in TCR-induced IL-2 production and T-cell proliferation. PKCθ activity is regulated by the intracellular redox state. It is the only T cell-expressed PKC that localizes selectively to the center of the immunological synapse (IS) following conventional T cell antigen stimulation. This unique localization is required for PKCθ-mediated downstream signaling. These attributes of PKCθ makes it an attractive target for catalytic or allosteric inhibitors. PKCθ may be associated with type 2 diabetis.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.
