General description

IsoNanotubes-S are produced by arch discharge or plasma torch. The diameter of the semiconducting single walled nanotubes range in 1.2-1.7 nm, whereas the length varies from 100nm to 4 μm. The degree of purity of the SWNTs can be determined from the absorbance spectrum. The optical absorbance of semiconducting SWNTs occurs at S22 (850-1250nm) and S33 (450-550nm). Toxic behavior of SWNTS were studied by studying the response of human hepatocarcinoma cells to SWNTs.

Application

These carbon nanotubes are produced via the arc discharge process and are purified via density gradient centrifugation.Semiconducting SWNTs can be used in various wearable and flexible devices such as bendable pressure sensor. Research applications include:
  • Electronics
  • Sensors
  • Composites
  • Energy Storage
  • Study of Life Science systems

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) have been previously observed to be strong antimicrobial agents, and SWNT coatings can significantly reduce biofilm formation. However, the SWNT antimicrobial mechanism is not fully understood. Previous studies on SWNT cytotoxicity have concluded that membrane stress

There has been recent controversy whether the response seen in carbon nanotube (CNT) chemiresistors is associated with a change in the resistance of the individual nanotubes or changes in the resistance of the junctions. In this study, we carry out

Electronic and Biomedical Applications of High-Purity Single-Walled Nanotubes (SWNTs)

Carbon nanomaterials (CNMs), such as single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), and graphene (Figure 1), have diverse commercial applications including lighter and stronger composite materials, improved energy storage devices, more sensitive sensors, and smaller transistors.

Dr. Xiang’s and Maruyama’s review presents the most recent research activities on 1D vdWHs, including the candidate materials, the synthetic techniques, and characterization methods. The optoelectronic applications are discussed in detail for different constructions of the 1D vdWHs-based devices (FETs, sensors, LEDs, photovoltaic devices, and light detection). Some challenges and perspectives for future development and applications of 1D vdWHs are also proposed to conclude the review.

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have received much attention since their discovery in 1991 by Sumio lijima1 due to their excellent mechanical, electrical, and optical properties.
