Insoluble small gap fullerenes can be extracted into organic solvents by simple chemical redox process.
Small gap fullerene-ethyl nipecotate are higher order fullerenes with low HOMO-LUMO gaps. These allotropes of carbon are also known as metallofullerenes. They are kinetically unstable and are considered as insoluble small band gap structures. Small gap fullerene-ethyl nipecotate can be extracted into organic solvents by a chemical redox processes.
