Application
Tetraglycol has been used:
- to dilute DiI (1,1′-dioctadecyl-3,3,3′3′-tetramethylindocarbocyanine perchlorate) for injecting fertilized chicken eggs for DiI labeling
- to dilute DiI (1,1′-dioctadecyl-3,3,3′3′-tetramethylindocarbocyanine perchlorate) and diO (3,3′-dioctadecyloxacarbocyanine perchlorate) for dye/virus injections
- to dilute poly (lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) to prepare PLGA/F127 solution
Used as solvent to dissolve water-insoluble compounds.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Liquid glycofurol can readily transform into gel systems with excellent elasticity due to which, it can be used as a medium to dissolve water-insoluble drugs.
Features and Benefits
Efficient solubilizer for glibenclamide (GBD)
Caution
Do not confuse with tetraethylene glycol, which is also sometimes called tetraglycol.
