General description

15:0 Coenzyme A, also known as pentadecanoyl Coenzyme A, is a coenzyme A derivative of pentadecanoic acid. 15:0 Coenzyme A is a long-chain acyl CoA and the product of the first round of β-oxidation. It is a substrate for serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) for de novo synthesis of C17-long chain bases.

Application

15:0 Coenzyme A has been used as a constituent of reaction cocktail in microsomal serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) assay.

Isotope labels are frequently used tools to track metabolites through complex biochemical pathways and to discern the mechanisms of enzyme-catalyzed reactions. Isotopically labeled l-serine is often used to monitor the activity of the first enzyme in sphingolipid biosynthesis, serine palmitoyltransferase
