General description

1-myristoyl-2-{6-[(7-nitro-2-1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl)amino]hexanoyl}-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (Acyl 06:0 NBD PC) comprises NBD (7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl) fluorescent probe.

Application

Acyl 06:0 NBD PC may be used:
  • as a supplement in ice-cold synthetic defined (SD) medium for yeast cultures for flow cytometry studies
  • as a fluorescent marker in hyaluronan-phospholipid based medium (HA–phospholipid medium) for culturing cartilage cells and to visualize lipid vesicle formation
  • in the preparation of small unilamellar vesicles (SUVs) and fluorescence-labeled supported lipid bilayer (SLB) for fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) studies

Biochem/physiol Actions

Lipids that are labeled with NBD (7-nitrobenz-2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl) are useful in lipid membranes dynamics studies. Acyl 06:0 NBD PC is used as yeast extract–peptone–dextrose (YPD) medium component in yeast uptake studies to decipher its incorporation.

Annexins are abundant cytoplasmic proteins, which bind to membranes that expose negatively charged phospholipids in a Ca2+-dependent manner. During cell injuries, the entry of extracellular Ca2+ activates the annexin membrane-binding ability, subsequently initiating membrane repair processes. However, the mechanistic action of

The success of nanoparticulate formulations in drug delivery depends on various aspects including their toxicity, internalization, and intracellular location. Vesicular assemblies consisting of phospholipids and amphiphilic block copolymers are an emerging platform, which combines the benefits from liposomes and polymersomes
