Biochem/physiol Actions

Dynein Light Intermediate Chain includes two isoforms LIC (light intermediate chain)1 and LIC2, that are 65% identical in primary sequence. Dynein cytoplasmic 1 is known to move towards the minus end of the microtubule carrying a number of cargo. LIC2 is associated with cytokinesis and ensures its completion during cell cycle. DYNC1LI2 (dynein cytoplasmic 1 light intermediate chain 2) promotes efficient transition from metaphase to anaphase by inactivation of spindle assembly checkpoint at metaphase.

Cytoplasmic dynein 1 (dynein) is a minus end-directed microtubule motor protein with many cellular functions, including during cell division. The role of the light intermediate chains (LICs; DYNC1LI1 and 2) within the complex is poorly understood. In this paper, we
