Gene Information

human ... PACSIN2(11252)

General description

Protein kinase C and casein kinase substrate in neurons 2 (PACSIN2), also termed syndapin II exhibits a vesicle-like cytoplasmic distribution and is ubiquitously expressed. PACSIN is phosphorylated by casein kinase 2 (CK2) and protein kinase C (PKC). The protein contains EFC/F-BAR (Fes/CIP4 homology - Bin/amphiphysin/Rvs ) domain (1 FCH domain) and 1 SH3 (Src homology 3) domain. In human chromosome, the gene PACSIN2 is localized on 22q13.2.

Immunogen

PACSIN2 (NP_009160, 347-381)
This antibody is generated from rabbits immunized with a KLH conjugated synthetic peptide selected from the C-terminal region of human PACSIN2.

Application

Anti-PACSIN2 (C-term) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunostaining.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Protein kinase C and casein kinase substrate in neurons 2 (PACSIN2) may play a role in vesicle formation and transport and organization of cytoskeleton. This protein homo- and hetero-aggregates with other PACSINs and thus acts as membrane associated adapter protein. It also binds dynamin 1, synaptojanin, synapsin 1 and the neural Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (N-WASP). Pacsin2 is crucial for the formation and maintenance of kidney associated tubules. Pacsin2 is involved with caveolae biogenesis in plasma membrane. Pacsin2 regulates cell migration and spreading by binding with Rac1 (Ras-related C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1) protein. Pacsin2 is involved in microspike formation and tubulation like filopodia, lamellopodia in the cell.

Physical form

Purified polyclonal antibody supplied in PBS with 0.09% (W/V) sodium azide.
