General description

Anilofos is a pre-emergence, organophosphorus herbicide, which is commonly used for the control of various annual grass weeds and sedges such as barnyard grasses in rice-based cropping system. Its mode of action involves the inhibition of cell division stage in weeds.

Application

Anilofos may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in environmental samples using stir bar sorptive extraction and thermal desorption combined with gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.

We aimed to evaluate the mutagenic effect of Anilofos, organophosphate pesticide, by using Ames/Salmonella/microsome test. Its cytotoxic and genotoxic effects were also determined by chromosome aberration (CA), sister chromatid exchange (SCE) and micronucleus (MN) test in human peripheral blood lymphocytes.
