General description

18:1 PI(11)P (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1′-myo-inositol-5′-phosphate)) is an ammonium salt of modified lipid. Approximately 0.5% of total phosphoinositides (PI) in mammalian cells consists of PI5P.
Inositol phospholipid species are membrane-bound signaling molecules that have been implicated in almost all aspects of cellular physiology, including cellular growth, metabolism, proliferation, and survival.

Application

18:1 PI(11)P (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1′-myo-inositol-5′-phosphate) (ammonium salt)) has been used in protein−lipid overlay assay. It may be used in liposome preparation and in liposome preparation for liposome pull-down experiments.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylinositol 5-phosphate (PI5P) is known to control chromatin organization and gene expression. It can also act as a coordinator of actin cytoskeleton, membrane trafficking and signaling. It participates in autophagy.

Phosphoinositides function as lipid signals in plant development and stress tolerance by binding with partner proteins. We previously reported that Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C2 functions in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of

We characterized phosphoinositide binding of the S. cerevisiae PROPPIN Hsv2 qualitatively with density flotation assays and quantitatively through isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC) measurements using liposomes. We discuss the design of these experiments and show with liposome flotation assays that Hsv2

The quantitatively minor phospholipid phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate [PI(4,5)P(2)] fulfills many cellular functions in the plasma membrane (PM), whereas its synthetic precursor, phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P), has no assigned PM roles apart from PI(4,5)P(2) synthesis. We used a combination of pharmacological and chemical
