General description

Bromoform is a major organic source for atmospheric reactive bromine BrOx (Br+BrO). It is formed as a product of chlorination of drinking water. It undergoes photodissociation to form the Br2 fragment and mechanism has been investigated by cavity ring-down absorption spectroscopy.

Application

Bromoform was used to evaluate the genotoxicity of chlorodibromomethane, bromodichloromethane and bromoform.
