INHA (inhibin α chain) is a subunit of inhibins. Inhibins are responsible for suppression of FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) secretion. INHA is down-regulated in prostate cancer. On the other hand, it is up-regulated in ovarian cancer. Polymorphism in INHA promoter is linked with infertility in males. Similarly, INHA promoter polymorphism is linked with risk of idiopathic primary ovarian insufficiency.
