Sodium acetate trihydrate can be used:

• The composite of Sodium acerate trihydrate with Graphite is used as a promising materials for storage of solar thermal energy.
• It is also used as a phase change materials in energy storage due to its high energy storage capacity.
• Sodium acetate trihydrate has been studied to synthesis Na₂FeSiO₄ as novel Cathode Material for Sodium-Ion Batteries by using sol-gel method.
• In addition, carbon coated Na₃V₂(PO₄)₃ cathode material is synthesised by using Sodium acetate trihydrate as a precursor for sodium-ion batteries to increase the cycling stability and rate capability.
• Furthermore, sodium iron silicate was synthesized using solvothermal synthesis and tested as a cathode material for Na-ion batteries for the first time using sodium acetate trihydrate.
• Interstingly, Sodium acetate trihydrate is also used to synthesis a anode materials of ZnFe₂O₄@C/G nanocomposite for Lithium-ion batteries.[6]
