Gene Information

human ... CD79A(973)

General description

Cluster of differentiation 79A (CD79A), also known as mb-1 gene, is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 19q13.2-13.3. The encoded protein is characterized with a single extracellular immunoglobulin domain, a transmembrane domain and an intracytoplasmic signaling domain with an immunoreceptor tyrosine-based activation motif (ITAM).
The antibody HM47 interacts with CD79a (Ig alpha), a 40-45 kDa subunit of B cell antigen-specific receptor (BCR) and its early developmental forms.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 208-222 of human CD79a

Application

The reagent is designed for Flow Cytometry analysis. Suggested working dilution for Flow Cytometry is 5 μg/mL of sample. Indicated dilution is recommended starting point for use of this product. Working concentrations should be determined by the investigator.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cluster of differentiation 79A (CD79A) functions as a highly lineage-specific marker of B lymphoid cells. It also plays a crucial role in the diagnosis of acute leukemia. Mutations in the gene might be a cause of agammaglobulinemia. CD79A acts as an potential biomarker for the detection of B lineage neoplasms.

We have characterized a panel of commercially available anti-human monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) suitable for B-cell identification in pigs and dogs. The specificities of the mAbs were against CD20, CD21, CD22, and CD86. In addition to HM57, originally raised against human
