General description

Cryo-SFM

Application

Cryo-SFM is a protein-free, defined and animal component-free cryopreservation medium. The optimized formulation is based on methylcellulose, DMSO and other cryoprotectants for the cryopreservation of human and animal primary cells. Cryo-SFM provides excellent results with all types of cells including primary human cells, stem cells and cell lines. Cells frozen in Cryo-SFM exhibit superior viability, attachment and subsequent growth performance after thawing. The medium is the first choice for all types of primary cells and cell lines.

Quality

All lots of PromoCell Cryo-SFM are subjected to comprehensive quality control tests. Each lot is routinely tested for its performance with primary human cells, for the absence of cytotoxicity, and for physical parameters such as osmolality and pH level. Approved in-house lots are used as a reference. In addition, all lots of Cryo-SFM have been tested for the absence of microbial contaminants (fungi, bacteria).

Preparation Note

Detach adherent cells using the PromoCell DetachKit (C-41200, C-41210, C-41220). Resuspend the cells in cold or room temperature Cryo-SFM at a concentration of 0.1 to 10 million cells/ml. Transfer the cell suspension into cryo-vials, freeze them gradually (-1°C/minute) to -70°C or lower overnight and subsequently store the vials in liquid nitrogen. Note: Each freeze/thaw cycle leads to a loss in proliferation potential and cell number, particularly when working with fragile primary cells. If freezing the cells, please do so at as low a passage number as possible.

Storage and Stability

Store Cryo-SFM at 4 to 8°C in the dark immediately after arrival. If stored properly, the product is stable until the expiry date stated on the label.
