General description

Leptin is a hormone that is secreted by the adipose tissue. It is also produced by the gastrointestinal tract and placenta. Leptin consists of a four-helix bundle. Leptin participates in regulating appetite, body weight, and energy expenditure. Excessive leptin is associated with cardiovascular complications like hypertension, coronary heart disease, and stroke. The LEP gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 7q32.1. Human Leptin "Dual Range" enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kit is used for the non-radioactive quantification of human leptin in serum, plasma, and other biological media.

Application

Human Leptin "Dual Range" ELISA kit has been used in the analysis of leptin in:
  • blood samples
  • serum samples
  • plasma samples

Leptin is an adipocyte hormone that signals nutritional status to the central nervous system (CNS) and peripheral organs. Leptin is also synthetized in the placenta and in gastrointestinal tract, although its role in these tissues is not yet clear. Circulating
