Members in the TNF superfamily regulate immune responses and induce apoptosis. A novel member in the TNF family was recently identified by several groups and designated BAFF (for B cell Activating Factor belonging to the TNF Family), BlyS (for B Lymphocyte Stimulator), TALL-1 (for TNF- and ApoL-related Leukocyte-expressed Ligand), and THANK (for TNF Homologue that Activate Apoptosis, NF-kB and c-jun N-terminal kinase) (Moore et al. 1999; Schneider et al. 1999; Shu et al. 1999; Mukhopadhyay et al. 1999). BAFF/BlyS was characterized as a B cell stimulator since it induced B cell proliferation and immunoglobulin secretion (Moore et al. 1999; Schneider et al. 1999). Two receptors for BAFF were recently identified and designated TACI and BCMA (Gross et al. 2000). BAFF and its receptors are involved in the development of systemic lupus erythaematosus and other B cell associated autoimmune diseases (Gross et al. 2000; Khare et al. 2000). Like TNFalpha and TRAIL, THANK was shown to activate NF-kB and c-jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) and to induce apoptosis (Mukhopadhyay et al. 1999).

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
Rabbit anti-BAFF (C-term) polyclonal antibody was raised against a peptide corresponding to amino acids 254 to 269 of human BAFF (Moore et al. 1999; Schneider et al. 1999; Shu et al. 1999; Mukhopadhyay et al. 1999).

Application

Anti-BAFF Antibody, C-terminus detects level of BAFF & has been published & validated for use in WB.

TALL-1/Blys/BAFF is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand superfamily that is functionally involved in B cell proliferation. Here, we describe B cell hyperplasia and autoimmune lupus-like changes in transgenic mice expressing TALL-1 under the control of a

TRAIL induces apoptosis through two closely related receptors, TRAIL-R1 (DR4) and TRAIL-R2 (DR5). Here we show that TRAIL-R1 can associate with TRAIL-R2, suggesting that TRAIL may signal through heteroreceptor signaling complexes. Both TRAIL receptors bind the adaptor molecules FADD and

B cells are important in the development of autoimmune disorders by mechanisms involving dysregulated polyclonal B-cell activation, production of pathogenic antibodies, and co-stimulation of autoreactive T cells. zTNF4 (BLyS, BAFF, TALL-1, THANK) is a member of the tumour necrosis factor
