General description
Potassium tetraborate tetrahydrate(K2B4O7· 4H2O) is a white crystalline salt with good buffering properties. It is widely used in the field of electrochemical water splitting, disinfectant, and the oil and gas industry.
Application
Potassium tetraborate tetrahydrate can be used:
- As an electrolyte for electrochemical water splitting reaction. The addition of K2B4O7 · 4H2O enhances the oxygen evolution activity of the catalyst.
- To synthesize carbon foams with hierarchical pores, for supercapacitors. K2B4O7 · 4H2O helps to tune the pore structure of carbon foams.
- To prepare green formulation for the removal of pyrite(FeS2) scales from oil and gas tubings.
