Gene Information

human ... VEGFC(7424)

General description

The recombinant VEGF-C (vascular endothelial growth factor-C) is a 125 amino acid protein that lacks the N-terminal signal peptide (from T103 to R227 of Gene Bank U58111). Human VEGF-C exhibits about 85% homology with mouse VEGF-C. The VEGFC gene is mapped to human chromosome 4q34.3.

Application

VEGF-C human has been used to determine cell proliferation and survival.

Biochem/physiol Actions

VEGF-C (vascular endothelial growth factor-C) promotes tumorigenesis, by inducing lymphatic metastasis. The production of VEGF-C is stimulated by pro-fibrotic transforming growth factor β. The main function of VEGF-C is to mediate lymphangiogenesis. Overexpression of VEGF-C in keratinocytes of skin causes dermal lymphatic vessel hyperplasia.

Physical form

Lyophilized without additives.

Reconstitution

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Reconstitute in 0.1% acetic acid to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.

Originally identified as an angiogenic factor, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF-A) is now known to play multiple roles in the CNS, including the direct regulation of neuronal and astrocytic functions. Here, we ask whether VEGF-A can also have a novel
