General description

FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3l), a cytokine, is also termed as Flk2/CD135. It is a hematopoietic growth factor. Recombinant murine Flt3-ligand is a soluble 18.6 kDa protein consisting of 163 amino acid residues.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Flt3l (FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand) acts as a stimulant of hematopoietic progenitor cell proliferation. It facilitates the commitment of lymphoid lineage, and aids in dendritic cell (DC) development. It is involved in myoblast differentiation, and drives skeletal muscle regeneration. It acts on p120RasGAP (rat sarcoma GTPase activating protein) and suppresses Erk (extracellular signal-regulated kinase) signaling, which in turn promotes myogenesis. In lymphoid tissues, it modulates DC homeostasis, which is facilitated by steady state as well as proliferative T-cells. Recombinant murine Flt3-Ligand is a soluble 18.6 kDa protein consisting of 163 amino acid residues.
Fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3) ligand (FL), expressed by leukemic cells may help to increase the multiplication through an autocrine process.

Physical form

Lyophilized from 10 mM Sodium Phosphate, pH 7.8.

Reconstitution

Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
