Biochem/physiol Actions

DENSPM HCl is a nontoxic polyamine analog that enhances polyamine catabolism and production of hazardous hydrogen peroxide and N-acetyl-3-aminopropanal by inducing spermidine/spermine-N1-acetyl transferase (SSAT) expression. DENSPM HCl improves stem cell maintenance through reduced translation, exhibits slower proliferation rates in cancer cells, and induces autophagy. It shows greater antitumor activity and less associated toxicity in a human melanoma xenograft model.
