Biochem/physiol Actions

KY-226 is an orally bioavailable, potent and selective allosteric inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) that does not function as a PPARg agonist. KY-226 exhibits anti-diabetic, anti-obesity effects by enhancement of insulin and leptin signaling in mice. It appears that KY-226 exerts neuroprotective effects through restoration of phosphorylation of Akt and FoxO1. Thus, it protects BBB integrity by restoration of tight junction (TJ) proteins in mice.
